hawkeyowa: (this is so awkward)

[Back home, Iowa, like most states in the 2,500 mile snowstorm line, have been completely thrashed by waves upon waves of blinding snow. Sure, this winter has been harsh, and the Plains states tend to get plenty of snow, but this is particularly bad. Iowa already had to report that every major highway had ice and snow on it. Snowfall records are almost record-beating.

Of course, this leaves Jack freezing, burrowed in his house, and specifically burrowed under a pile of fleece blankets with his space heater cranked up. Mitch is curled on his couch next to him, and for all anyone knows, Maddie is also burrowed in the blankets, but it's much more difficult to spot her.

Though, one look around his house and it's pretty clear he was preparing for this. There's soup packets and boxes of any number of cracker-related things everywhere, along with another mass of blankets and pillows, and an endless supply of movies he dug up. Unfortunately, all he has to drink is Spring Grove and Olde Main, in which he's chosen the latter to drink. While the weather around town might not be as godawful as the weather back home, Jack is sure acting like it.

[ Trust me, for an alcoholic at this level, everything would be painful for Wisconsin. Wearily opening his blood shot eyes, he grasps the bottle and tries to open it.

It looks of pathetic for him to even do that at the moment while he tries to sit back up. Where he might have accidentally moved poor Maddie because he did it suddenly. Whoops.

Good. This better be a microbrewery... [ With a raspy voice before he successfully opened it. He gives it a good sniff. It... does smell good. ]

Glorified microbrewery, I guess. It's getting more popular back home. Least it's hand-brewed?

[ Glorified or not, he wants real beer and this smells legit. Gabe begins drinking it down, while he has ton of things to say about it's flavor and everything what he is focused on doing is trying to get rid of that wave of nausea, the shaking, and the feeling that he wanted to either lash out at anyone or start crying for no particular reason. The last part he was worried about, because that was humiliating. And he did that more times than he could count in this hell hole.

The effects won't be immediate, but to taste real beer is wonderful.

[ Of course, he won't say this is up to the level of many of his beers. Too prideful to admit there is someone up to his skill in the United States. But he is enjoying it and that is clear as day.

Gabe stops his drinking, opening his eyes - the nausea hasn't gone away yet but it will likely in an hour or so.

A lot better than what I had ...

[ Keep in mind, he still looks a little sick but the fact he's smiling seems to be enough. His fever isn't going away though, after all it's just alcohol. Magical as it is to Gabe, it's not an instant healer. ]

...I wasn't dyin' or anythin' ya know? Just... [ Taking another drink. He's still extremely slow in reaction and it still looks a bit painful for him. ] ... Just didn't have anythin' to drink...

Ya still probably need water or somethin'. An' ya probably shouldn't go outside for awhile.

[ What a fever he has though, this doesn't help he was probably stumbling outside for a bit longer than he should have. While he probably wouldn't have died out there, it still did not help that fever he got from the withdrawal.

Continues to enjoy the drink, good lord this a professional alcoholic ... beer drinker. Yes. That's good.

Ye-yeah... I probably do...Ya...ya got room for me to stay, right? I mean, I don't want to be a freeloader so... Maybe I can clean or... somethin' ...

[ The upside of having such a high temperature was for once he didn't hear that obnoxious voice trying to take control. It might have crippled that asshole too... ]

Oh, yeah, 'course.

Ya won't be a freeloader. There's a reason couches were invented anyway.

[ Rubbing his eyes, while he sniffs - good lord a fever with a runny nose while he keeps himself nice, warm, and toasty in that fleece blanket while he takes another drink. ]

So ... I stay on the ...soda--tofu...[ A pause. ] ... sofa, or...?
