006: Puppies!

[It's been a few months since Mitch and Maddie went missing, along with Lou's dog, Jake. Luckily, all animals returned to their respective owners, except Jake had a bit more than just herself when she got back. Without too much explanation otherwise, the results of that fateful two or so months, plus an extra two months dealing with squeakily-barking, non-potty trained, and teething puppies, Jack and Lou are sitting around with a crib-pen type-thing and a sign hanging off the side of it.]

[And if you should look in the pen, you'll see six or so of these little guys (and girls) rolling around, playing tug-of-war with an old sneaker, or sleeping.]

[Yes, a couple Shepherd-Husky-coonhound-something-or-another mutt puppies just waiting for someone to come by and pick them up. :3 Have at!]

Two? But other people might want 'em. What about if I wait 'til the end of the day and you can take one if any are left over?

[Do you seriously think he'd go for that? How would you feel if a car dealer refused to sell you anything and told you to wait to see if there was anything 'left over'? You'd be pissed off and you'd probably end up with a shitty car.]

I'll just take one then...?

Alright, go ahead 'n pick one. Just be good to it. Mitch ain't gonna be happy if all ya do is treat it like a work dog.

[He looks for the hardiest looking of the bunch. A healthy one that is not to silly or stupid looking. One that looks like it is strong and can obey commands. Finding the closest to his ideal dog, he scoops it up.]

I do not abuse dogs, if you are saying that. Just because a dog is put to work does not mean it is worked to death or beaten or starved.

I wasn't saying that. Just saying that they're not totally built for constant work.

[He is glad, he pats the puppy on the head gently.]

I am aware of that. I would not treat it as a pure sled dog.

/WE SHOULD JUST DO THIS ALL THE TIME

Good. Just makin' sure.

/THIS IS WHY I COME OUT HERE. QUICK STARING CONTEST.

[He doesn't understand why.]

I will take him hunting, track for me and chase prey. Pull light loads. But that is all.

/YOU'LL HAVE TO BLINK EVENTUALLY

'Kay, just makin' sure.

/YOU WIN. YOU ALWAYS DO.

Thank you for the dog, he will be... [He takes a second thinking of a word.]

He will be of good performance, I'm sure. [Hefting the squirming and yipping puppy, he turns to walk off.]
