"Ehh, just didn't feel like much of a big deal. I mean, I don't do much 'cept farm."

He shakes his head and smiles.

"Hey, gotta quit being depressing, right?"

[She nods at him, serious and resolved.]

But farming is very important! Without all of us in the Corn Belt working so hard, the rest of the world wouldn't have enough food to eat. You, me, Mikey, Elijah,...and yes, even Louis...just because we may not be the flashiest of states, doesn't mean we're not just as valuable as everyone else.

[Proudly, she puffs out her chest a bit, pointing to herself.]

They don't call me "The Breadbasket of the World" for nothing, you know.

"Yeah, you're right. We just don't get enough credit is all! I guess everyone would be screwed without us."

He grins looking much happier than before.

"Thanks Miss Kaycee. You cheered me up quite a bit."

I understand how you feel. People are always saying how boring I look. But how well can you really get to know a person driving by them at seventy miles an hour after all?

If they would bother to stop and get to know states like us better, they might change their tune.
