[It's been a few months since Mitch and Maddie went missing, along with Lou's dog, Jake. Luckily, all animals returned to their respective owners, except Jake had a bit more than just herself when she got back. Without too much explanation otherwise, the results of that fateful two or so months, plus an extra two months dealing with squeakily-barking, non-potty trained, and teething puppies, Jack and Lou are sitting around with a crib-pen type-thing and a sign hanging off the side of it.]

[And if you should look in the pen, you'll see six or so of these little guys (and girls) rolling around, playing tug-of-war with an old sneaker, or sleeping.]

[Yes, a couple Shepherd-Husky-coonhound-something-or-another mutt puppies just waiting for someone to come by and pick them up. :3 Have at!]

Siberian, if I remember right. Mitch's coat is too thin to be a Malamute.

[He's just asking questions. Even if they are free, he should be allowed to check that they're not sick or deformed.]

Siberian will never be as good as if it was a child of a Qimmiq (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Eskimo_Dog), but they are hard to find so I do not blame you.

[He points to Mitch.]

Is that the mother? How old is she?

Uh, Mitch is a boy, and he's about seven-ish.

You'd think you'd have the mother to display, but the father is just as well.

What health problems does he possess?

Lou's got the mom somewhere around here. She's a coonhound of some kind.

An' he doesn't have any. Just about as healthy as they get.

[His face breaks out into a smile at that. You better not be lying, Jack.]

That is good to hear. They seem like they would be good-at-all-things work dogs. May I have two?

Two? But other people might want 'em. What about if I wait 'til the end of the day and you can take one if any are left over?

[Do you seriously think he'd go for that? How would you feel if a car dealer refused to sell you anything and told you to wait to see if there was anything 'left over'? You'd be pissed off and you'd probably end up with a shitty car.]

I'll just take one then...?

Alright, go ahead 'n pick one. Just be good to it. Mitch ain't gonna be happy if all ya do is treat it like a work dog.

[He looks for the hardiest looking of the bunch. A healthy one that is not to silly or stupid looking. One that looks like it is strong and can obey commands. Finding the closest to his ideal dog, he scoops it up.]

I do not abuse dogs, if you are saying that. Just because a dog is put to work does not mean it is worked to death or beaten or starved.

I wasn't saying that. Just saying that they're not totally built for constant work.

[He is glad, he pats the puppy on the head gently.]

I am aware of that. I would not treat it as a pure sled dog.
From: [identity profile] usuiituk.livejournal.com
[He doesn't understand why.]

I will take him hunting, track for me and chase prey. Pull light loads. But that is all.

Thank you for the dog, he will be... [He takes a second thinking of a word.]

He will be of good performance, I'm sure. [Hefting the squirming and yipping puppy, he turns to walk off.]
